David F. Laug, born on March 9, 1946, in Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at OSU-East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, David served his country with honor and dedication. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career at Tappan's before dedicating 38 years to W.H. Oswalt Co., where his unwavering work ethic and commitment left a lasting legacy until his retirement. David and Thelma also owned and operated Majestic Memories Video Service for 12 years.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Thelma J. (Garrison) Laug; his son, Scott A. (Angel Duty) Laug; and his daughter, Katrina M. Martin (Aaron); 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
He was a longtime member of Crossroads Community Church in Mansfield, Ohio, faithfully attending for 26 years. David’s early education began at St. Peter's Catholic School, and he graduated from Malabar High School in 1965. Throughout his life, he carried with him the strong values instilled during his upbringing in Mansfield. Beyond his professional life, David expressed his creativity through crafting wind chimes from wine bottles—a unique art form that brought joy to many. Known for his social nature and warm personality, he was a familiar presence at senior events and gatherings, where his friendliness brightened every room.
Though no formal funeral services will be held, a celebration of David’s life will take place at Amvets Mansfield, 1100 W. 4th Street Mansfield, OH 44903 from 1:00-4:00 on Sunday, December 29, 2024, to honor the love and memories shared with him. David will be remembered for the deep impact he had on those who knew him and for the legacy of love, creativity, and dedication he leaves behind.
