Bruce Crawford Rogers died Saturday October 18, 2003 at Lexington Court Care Center following a brief illness. Mr. Rogers was born December 30, 1909 in Elwood, Indiana to Samuel and Lydia Roberts Rogers. He had moved to Mansfield in 1918 and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and attended Ohio State University. Bruce served in the Army Air Corp from 1943-1945.
Mr. Rogers worked as a steel worker and a Customer Service representative for the Tappan Stove Company before becoming an insurance claims adjuster for the Carlton Miller and Grange Insurance Companies. After retirement he worked as a courier for Roush Laboratories until the age of 83. Bruce was a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Gary Walker of Millersburg and Karen L. 'Kari' Daron of Hot Springs, South Dakota; four granddaughters, Deborah Phillips and her fiancé Mike Diraimo, Catherine and Mark Moore, Dawn and Casey Warren and Amy and Scott Gonzalez; two great-granddaughters, Caitlin and Megan Moore; one great-grandson, Quincy Warren; very special nephew and niece, Phillip and Jane Rogers; as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Leola Oberlin Rogers; two brothers, Edward and Fred Rogers; and a sister, Evangeline Gross.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday October 21, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street home of Wappner Funeral Directors, conducted by Rev. J. Terry Marsh. Calling hours will be held one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Disabled American Veterans.
