My name is Ed Klimkowski My Life  long friend is Bob Heck   I played BBall against Todd when he & Bob played at Montclair St Years  later we played against each other in Switzerland I coached Fribourg Olympic Todd was a tremendous player I kept saying “who is that guy “after he scored basket after basket I finally gave in I named my second son Todd Klimkowski in honor of Tod. A lot has been said about Tod’s athletic abilities; his love of basketball, golf, and tennis.  
Tod not only liked to play sports, but he was a spectator as well.  Before I met Tod, I didn’t know that some people set their alarm to 3am in order to wake up and watch the Australian open.  However, possessing little athletic talent myself, I was able to discover many other qualities in Tod during the 10 years we were together.  Tod was truly kind, generous to a fault, and he possessed a wicked sense of humour.  A legendary story-teller, no matter how many times he told certain stories…they never lost their hilarity.  I am thinking of the story of his summer job at a gas station near the GW Bridge where Tod pumped gas while his brother, Gil, did the bookkeeping. 

Tod could appear irreverent at times; he defied convention, yet under the surface there lived a soulful man who often acted by faith and trust in something greater than himself.  Tod understood that we cannot always figure things out or find satisfactory answers to some of life’s difficulties, but he chose to look beyond, keep the faith, and bring some fun to each day.

The quality I most admired was Tod’s inclusiveness; he brought people together; children, grown-ups, rich or poor, successful and less successful.  It didn’t matter. He judged no one.  He always saw the good in others because it was an extension of the good in himself.

Did you know that Tod spoke Italian?  Well, the word “charismatic” comes from the Italian word “charisma”…meaning light.  Yes, that is what Tod represented…wherever he went, Tod brought the light…the light of joy, laughter, friendliness, and caring.

Like Bob below, I met Tod, Marie and Luke on the beach at Hutchinson Island, Florida in January 2017. We enjoyed Tod’s upbeat and modest demeanor and, being sports fanatics, we had tons of questions about his legendary Dad and the New York Yankees, which he only offered to discuss after much digging on our part. 

He added lots of humor and compassion to our morning chats on the beach. This year (2018), we spent lots of time recalling our interactions with Tod in 2017. I will never forget how incredibly patient and attentive he was after he asked a friend of mine a simple question and got a 40 minute circuitous response. We joked about this the next day. The proverbal “ask someone for the time and get a lecture on how to build a clock” moment. 

We missed him this past year, as I’m sure all who had the good fortune to know him will miss him for many years to come. The very best to all his family and his many friends. We can all cherish our special memories of Tod. 


I met Tod through my decades long friend, Marie Badarani.  Tod and Marie have been partners for at least 10 years which afforded me spending time with them on many occasions: New Jersey, Florida, Tod's family home in Wall. I want to borrow a statement written here by Tod's friend, Bob;
"Tod was special and touched me with his decency,warmth,smile and boundless energy.I'll treasure his memories forever and feel so fortunate that our paths crossed.May he rest in peace.....SUCH A Good Guy !" And I will add that Tod was always the gentleman with love of life, family esp. his grandchildren, and of course, his Dear Marie.  He was humorous, compassionate, full of good cheer with a real zest for life (and of course, Golf). Such grief that all of us will no longer encounter Tod in this life. We will all miss you, Dear One.

Tod was a live wire with natural grace and composure.  He was a man of good cheer and compassion.  My deepest sorrow goes out to family and friends who will surely miss this special guy.  RIP.

My heartfelt condolences to family and friends.I'm forever thankful and honored on my all too brief friendship with Tod that began a few years ago on the Hutchinson Island Beachs.After his daily early morning  walks with his incredible dog we would sit and talk often.His indelible smile and conversation was always a great way to start the day.I recall on many days he would head out to play pickle ball or golf which he so enjoyed.
Tod was special and touched me with his decency,warmth,smile and boundless energy.I'll treasure his memories forever and feel so fortunate that our paths crossed.May he rest in peace.....SUCH A Good Guy !


Although we didn't interact much as adults, Tod's grace and decency remained with me.  My fondest thoughts go to the family.  Your abiding friend, David White.


Tod was my classmate at Xavier. While we were not friends I admired his athletic talent and saw him play many times. He had a great smile, an air of quiet modesty but was a relentless competitor. I'm saddened at his passing and pray for his family.
