She was born in Hasbrook Heights, NJ to Jennie and William Boos DDS and lived the majority of her 92 years in Manasquan with a 20 year stop in Wildwood Fla. during her retirement years.
Married for seventy years to her high school sweetheart Alfred J. Wood, they graduated from MHS in 1938. She graduated from Centenary College in Hacketstown and then from Physical Therapy School.
Doris was a PT, a brave occupation for a woman of her time. Employed by (then Fitkin Hospital) now Jersey Shore Medical Center and later Monmouth Medical Center until
her retirement.
She helped her husband Al found the Manasquan Little League in 1950, was a Boy Scout Den Mother, an avid bridge player,mystery reader and golfer.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Al one year ago in April 2013..Surviving are her two children: William M. Wood DDS and wife Georgiana of Farmingdale, Barbara L. Wood and her partner Fawn Yacker of San Francisco; two grand children Matthew Wood and Emily Bridges: four great-grandchildren.
Her great appreciation of Frank Sinatra was passed on from many years of his records playing on the hi-fi stereo. She did it her way.
