Donald S. Calderon, age 88, of Manchester Township, New Jersey passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023. Donald was born and grew up in the Bronx, NY, then went to college in Raleigh, NC and after graduation married his beloved Myrna. They then lived in Farmville, VA, Trenton NJ, and raised their family in Newton from 1961 until 1981, when they moved to Flemington before moving to Manchester in 2001.
Donald worked as a forester for the State of NJ. He then became Director of Stepping Stone Environmental Education Center. He then changed careers and worked for the NJ State School Board Association until he retired in 1993.
He loved rafting, golfing and the ocean. He was a volunteer for many years at the Nature Center at Island Beach State Park. Donald and Myrna were avid travelers. They visited China, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and Europe, loved to cruise, and visited their son’s family yearly in California. They wintered in Deerfield Beach, FL until 2010.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Myrna, his son Jeff Calderon and his wife Loida, his daughter Susan Calderon and her partner Scott Gordon, and his granddaughter, Nikki Calderon-Proctor and her husband Adam.
A Graveside service will be held on Friday August 18, 2023, at 1 pm, at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
