Tanya grew up in Londonderry, New Hampshire, where she graduated from Pinkerton academy in Derry magna cum laude. Tanya had a deep love for the arts especially music and theatre arts. She attended Rollins College in Winter Park Florida after high school and was in several theatrical productions including ‘Devils’ with Angela Lansbury and several others Tony Perkins and Didi Conn.
Tanya has a son, Robert (Robbie) Fleck, who lives in Beverly Mass and has worked in public service since 1996, He graduated from Bradford College in 1996 and obtained two Master's degrees in Cambridge. He is a licensed mental health clinician and social worker and has had a private practice for the past 12 years. Robert (known as Robbie by family and friends) had a very deep close relationship with his mom, who became a single mom when Rob was 8 years old. She was not only an incomparable mother, but a best friend.
She is also survived by her three siblings, Brenda Samara, a retired psychologist of Atlantic Beach Florida, her brother, a well known artist Ronald (Ron) Samara of Palm Springs, California and younger sister Lisa Ross, a successful business woman of Stratham, New Hampshire. She and her family spent summers in Rye Beach NH growing up and visited often when home from college and/or
Tanya attended Rollins College in Winter Park Florida where she majored in communications with a goal of working in TV. Her plans changed after meeting the love of her life Robert Fleck from Charleston WV and began a family which was an integral goal for her. Tanya worked several short term jobs at places that interested her while her full time job was being a single parent and being an 'above and beyond'
She worked for NH Public Television Channel 2 for several years, assisting and producing shows such as Ciao Italia and Crossroads.
She spent years substitute teaching as she loved kids, especially elementary age. She managed a European toy store "Kringles" for many years and for Hannoush Jewelers She obtained her Paralegal License from Hesser College which she kept active but decided her calling was in real estate. She was a very successful residential and commercial realtor for the majority of her career working for Coldwell Banker Omni Dunfey, while doing part time commercial real estate at Shea and Dunn Inc. both in Hampton, NH.
Tanya loved people and had many different groups of friends - getting along with most anyone she encountered and helped through hard times and was known to be especially thoughtful, generous and giving. She befriended countless homeless individuals from different communities and made sure they had warm clothes in the winter and something special on Christmas and Easter as well as Thanksgiving when for several years invited some to join us for a warm meal and company.
She loved Lebanese food, being Lebanese herself and enjoyed introducing different cuisines with others, She was also a big fan of lobster w/extra butter and a side of steamers. Local and even out of state places always knew her order when she arrived to dine and always placed a separate full order for take, at times not even having to request ahead, rather was known by her regular favorite wait staff.
A small family service will be at the McHugh funeral home in Manchester New Hampshire. There will be a Facebook memorial where people can post comments and photos and any other information about Tanya. Tanya was a committed Christian and member of Rye Bethany Church in Rye NH where her son Robbie was baptized and attended Bible school. Tanya was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, a helper and most of all a cherished friend. She was dependable and considered to be one that you could call with a flat tire and know she would be right there. That one friend, that the older we get, true friendship is so rare these days to find.
She will be missed by so many who loved her and cherished her.
