Lillian Irene Peltak

Lillian “Lily” Irene Peltak, age 94, passed away peacefully at the Courville at Manchester nursing home in Manchester, New Hampshire on October 3, 2024. Born on July 14, 1930 in Manchester, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (O’Brien) Johnston.

Lily was educated in the Manchester school system and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. She and her husband, Tom Peltak, raised their daughter, Debbie and spent their lifetime making many happy memories as a family. Lily made family her priority and spent most of her career as a homemaker, devoting herself to being an active part of her daughter’s life. She also worked for a time with her brother at his restaurant, “Bobby’s Lunch.” She had an incredible sense of humor and loved to make people laugh, known best as being a jokester. She loved to host holiday family parties at her home, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. She will always be remembered for her light-hearted spirit, love for others and a friend to many.

Lily is survived by her daughter, Debbie Peltak of Manchester; brother, Ronnie Johnston; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Peltak) O’Connell and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Peltak; brothers, William Johnston, Richard (Cy) Johnston, Bobby Johnston, Lenny Johnston, Frankie Johnston, and Jimmy Johnston; and sisters, Mary McGuire, Helen Fremeau (her twin) and Jeanie Johnston.

Donations can be made to the Manchester Animal Shelter at 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH 03103 in Lily’s memory. The Peltak family would like to acknowledge all of the staff at Courville at Manchester for all their love and support in caring for Lily, especially Anna and Halle.

A visitation for Lily will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McHugh Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 283 Hanover St, Manchester, New Hampshire 03104. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 12:30 PM, 283 Hanover St, Manchester, New Hampshire 03104. A burial will occur Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 1:30 PM at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Old Bedford Rd, Bedford, New Hampshire.
