Elli was born on June 1, 1935 in Sikouriou, Greece. She left school at age twelve to manage the family tavern and apprentice to be a hairdresser. She came to the United States in July of 1966 and later moved to Manchester, New Hampshire, where she opened and ran the Athenian beauty salon until her retirement.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Elli is remembered for her incredible rose garden, her passion for traveling, her volunteer hours at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and for her unmatched skills in the kitchen. Elli had an energetic passion for life and a fiercely independent and feisty spirit.
She is survived by her three children Athena (Demetriou) Adams and her husband Noel X. Negroni, Angela (Demetriou) Brown and her husband Michael A. Brown, and Andrew J. Demetriou and his wife Cheryl Demetriou; her grandchildren Cassandra A. (Brown) Pelletier and her husband Michael V. Pelletier, Nicholas M. Brown and his partner Emily A. Crockett, Andreanna K. Demetriou and her partner Andrew S. Lambert, Alexandria E. Demetriou and her partner Connor J. Hayward, Nicholas A. Demetriou and his partner Katherine L. McCoy, and Christopher A. Demetriou; her great grandchildren Vanessa L. Demetriou and Anastasia Belle Brown. She is predeceased by her husband John “Yanni” Demetriou.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Wednesday December 8, 2021 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral located at 650 Hanover St, Manchester NH, with burial to follow immediately after at Pine Grove Cemetery located at 765 Brown Ave, Manchester NH.
