Steve grew up in Lynbrook, NY, the eldest child of Benjamin and Lillian Steinberg, and older brother of sister Irene.
He graduated from Utica College and served in the Army as a medic during the Korean War.
He married his wife, Wilma, in October 1963 and they were together 56 years before her sudden passing in 2019. Steve started his career at Macy’s in New York City where he worked for 20 years traveling the world as an executive. From there, he worked for Talbots and was given the opportunity to open an office in Hong Kong, where he lived the next 10 years before returning to the US and retiring 5 years later.
Steve enjoyed playing softball, exercising, trading stocks, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son Paul Steinberg of Freehold, NJ, daughter Susan Steinberg-Shurtleff of Lansdowne, VA, grandsons Michael Steinberg and Matthew Steinberg of Freehold, NJ, daughter-in-law Margaret Steinberg of Freehold, NJ and son-in-law Robert Shurtleff of Lansdowne, VA.
Funeral Services will be held inside Chapel of Mt. Sinai Cemetery on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow on the cemetery grounds after the service.
The family will be sitting shiva at Stephen's home, 31 Gary Drive, Englishtown, NJ on Monday from 3-8pm, and Tuesday from 5-8pm.
