Sandra M Radin

At the age of three she and her parents moved to Clear Lake, SD where her father Harry owned a general store. At the age of 11 they returned to Sioux Falls.

She attended Longfellow Elementary School (as did her children) and graduated from Washington High School in 1953. She spent one year at the University of Wisconsin and transferred and graduated with a BS Degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota.

She was united in marriage to Allan (Sonny) Radin on September 2, 1956 in Sioux Falls. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1957, at which time they became part owners, with her father Harry, of the Sioux Falls Army and Surplus Stores.

Sandy was a member of Mt. Zion Temple, Mt. Zion Sisterhood and the Sioux Falls chapter of Hadassah. She was past president of Mt. Zion Sisterhood, past secretary of the Sioux Falls PTA and past board member of the Sioux Falls Community Concerts. She was a volunteer at Avera McKennan hospital, court watcher for the Rape and Domestic Abuse Center, and the Washington Pavilion. She worked at Dayton's in sales for four years and Attitudes by Designers for 22 years.

Sandy was a golfer, bowler and tennis player with a wicked serve. She was an accomplished pianist. She loved a Strauss waltz and was passionate about jazz piano. She was a Brownie and Cub Scout troop leader. She played Mah Jongg. She loved the theater, symphony, and going to the movies. After retirement she took up wheel pottery and did some traveling to London, Vienna, Budapest and Prague. She had an amazing sense of humor and never let her kids win at checkers! Always dressed to the nines and never without her red lipstick! She was generous to a fault with her time and her heart.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband.

Survivors include daughter Julie Radin, New York, NY; son Jon (Carolyn), Marlboro, NJ; granddaughter Hayley (Sam) Cooper and great-grandchildren Adam and Mia, Rockville, MD; and grandson Ben (Thanh), Chester Springs, PA.
