Rose Gellman Schneider, of blessed memory, ascended to Paradise on September 15, 2017, at the age of 98. Born on a farm in Windsor, New Jersey, she was the sixth of Fannie and Meyer Gellman's nine children. Rose attended Pleasant Grove School, a one-room schoolhouse in Monroe Township. She skipped 8th grade and continued her education at Hightstown High School from which she graduated in 1936.
Rose was awarded a full nursing scholarship to the University of Wisconsin, which she declined due to obligations on her family's farm. Always proud to be a "farmer's daughter", Rose worked on the dairy farm with her parents, brothers and sisters where she cared for the animals, as well as picked and packed tomatoes and strawberries.
In 1941, she married the love of her life, Milton Schneider, of blessed memory. Together, Rose and Milton had three loving and devoted daughters: Elaine Scher, Lois Weiss and Marlene (Joel) Richter.
In 1964, subsequent to the passing of her beloved husband, Milton, Rose worked full-time at Gelco Furniture in Ocean Township. She retired from Gelco in 1996, at the age of 77.
In addition to her three daughters, Rose, the matriarch of her family, is survived by eight grandchildren: Mark (Linda) Scher, Glenn (Laura) Scher, Marlo (Joseph) Gorelick, Meridith (Scott) Feldman, Adam (Jamie) Weiss, Tiffany (Cary) Friedman, Dara Weiss and Venessa (Jeffrey) Bokser. Rose is also survived by 15 beautiful great-grandchildren: Brandon, Dylan, Jared, Tyler, Lila, Savannah, Ariana, Skylar, Logan, Grant, Austin, Spencer, Arden, Brooke, and Sienna.
The warmth that Rose exuded was felt by everyone she touched. Rose was a great source of wisdom, inspiration, and much love. All that she taught her adoring family will live on in their hearts and minds forever.
