Born on July 10, 1931 in New York, Norman and Judith moved to Marlboro in 1969, and later to the Westlake development in Jackson, before moving to Mattison Crossing more than 6 years ago. Prior to moving to Mattison Crossing, he was an avid bridge and bocce player, loved to go the theater, and enjoyed bowling.
Norman was a stockbroker and head of the margin department of a brokerage firm prior to his retirement.
Norman is survived by his son Marc Herling and his wife Michele; daughter Shari McNicholas and her husband Paul; granddaughter Mara Brown and her husband Brian; grandson Matthew Herling and his wife Meryl Rosenberg; grandson Michael McNicholas and his fiancée Rosemary Wojtkowski; granddaughter Alison McNicholas; grandson Daniel McNicholas; great-granddaughter Jenna Brown; and great-grandson Eli Brown.
Mr. Herling was predeceased by his wife Judith Herling in September 2022; his brothers Murray Herling and Harvey Herling; and his parents Michael and Sylvia Herling.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, New Jersey 07095. The service was previously livestreamed on Zoom.
Shiva will be observed at the residence of Marc and Michele Herling in Marlboro, New Jersey on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Shiva will continue at the residence of Shari and Paul McNicholas in Port St. Lucie, Florida on Thursday and at Marc and Michele Herling' s home in Boynton Beach, Florida on Friday.
