Arlene Marciano

Arlene Marciano beloved wife of Anthony, loving mother of Leslie Tevlin (& Thomas), Adriene Pernice and Todd Marciano and proud grandmother of Bari Pernice and Richard & Adison Marciano passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the age of 78.

Arlene, a retired teacher with a double Masters in Education and Guidance, was born in the Bronx on February 14, 1943, an auspicious Valentine’s date that foretold her warm, kind and loving nature. Arlene will be most remembered for this spirit of compassion and generosity, a true “mother to all” and one of the most impactful teachers in the community. She spent the majority of her teaching career (30+ years) at Eisenhower Middle School in Wyckoff, NJ, where her commitment and involvement to her students is her enduring legacy. Arlene loved teaching and connecting with kids, making a difference in students’ lives both in and out of the classroom.

Arlene will also be remembered for her thick Bronx accent, her sense of style and fashion, her bawdy sense of humor, her big heart and her enduring spirit of resilience. Her personal anthem, Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” was a source of strength and comfort during some of her toughest times in her life. A song that she needed to channel for the past two years as she struggled to overcome chronic and debilitating health challenges.

Arlene will be missed every day by those who loved her. Anthony, her devoted husband, will grieve for a love they shared that was both rare and beautiful. Arlene chose to be cremated and declined a more formal memorial. Instead there will be an intimate gathering for immediate family and friends in the coming days.
