Steve was predeceased by his father Louis and his mother Lilias.
He is survived by his wife Joan Wiley, his brothers Charles (and wife Jan) and Richard (and wife Peg), and 4 nephews, 2 nieces, and 2 grand nieces.
Steve was a lifelong resident of Manahawkin New Jersey. He graduated from Southern Regional High School and DeVry Institute of Technology (Columbus, Ohio). In his youth Steve could often be seen boating on Manahawkin Lake, and was a member of the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church puppet team. He was also active in the Boy Scouts, reaching the rank of Eagle Scout.
In Manahawkin he served as the Town Crier in the Stafford Township Founders Day parade since 2003 and was a member of the Stafford Township Historical Commission. Like his parents before him he was an active member of the Stafford Township Historical Society, serving as the treasurer for many years and coordinating the summer concert series and the mowing of the cemeteries.
He was a frequent volunteer for Habitat for Humanity of Southern Ocean County where his wife is a member of the board.
Steve worked for over 20 years in RADAR maintenance for the FAA, and before that at various jobs repairing electronics as varied as pinball machines and hearing testing equipment. To those that knew him Steve was the fixer of all things. Never afraid to take something apart to try to fix it, and often succeeding where others had failed or would not even attempt to try.
He was the guy who saw a cartoon in every situation and who liked to share his drawings with those who shared moments with him. He shared his smile and his love with the people around him, and he will be deeply missed by many.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Stafford Township Historical Society, PO Box 1097, Manahawkin, NJ 08050
