Robert L McPherson

Robert L. McPherson, 70, of Harvey Cedars, NJ passed away on Sunday August 17, 2014 at his residence. Bob, along with his sister Carol and brother Paul, were raised in Union, NJ by Paul and Alma McPherson. Bob married Julia Petersen in 1968 and moved to Bridgewater, NJ where they raised two boys, Rob and Kevin.

Bob worked in the Steel Industry for 46 years. He worked his way up from Shipping Clerk to Vice President at Faitoute Steel in Newark, NJ. He later became President/Head of Operations when Faitoute was purchased by Metals USA. He retired to Harvey Cedars, NJ in 2009.

Early in his two sons’ lives Bob enjoyed coaching their baseball and soccer teams and ran BBI, a youth baseball organization. He also enjoyed fishing from the shores of Long Beach Island or in the freshwaters of Maine or Montana. Bob was an avid golfer and loved traveling the world with his loving wife, Julia.

Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julia, his sons, Rob and Kevin, his granddaughters, Mia and Madelyn and his sister, Carol Omland.

The viewing will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. The viewing will be from 1-3 PM, with services immediately following.
