She is predeceased by her loving husband Edward, younger brother Michael O’Keefe, and her sisters in-law, Eileen Frei and Maguerite Perrine.
Mary is survived by her only son Peter Rollins, his wife Christina, her grandson Sean, and her granddaughter Jamie. She is also survived by her sisters Catherine Van Sickle, Eileen Sysyn, Bernice Carpenter, and her cousin Gail Robin Hutchinson.
Born in Newark, Mary eventually settled in Bayville, NJ with her husband and son. After receiving her BA in English from Seton Hall University, Mary worked as a legal secretary for multiple NJ Law firms, finishing her career at AT&T’s patent-law division. After retiring, Mary moved to Manahawkin, NJ to be near her beloved sisters. She remained steadfast in her Roman Catholic faith throughout her life.
Mary enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid traveler, having traveled across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and having a glass of wine with her friends and neighbors. Her cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends loved Mary and she will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 11:00 AM at St Mary of the Pines, 100 Bishop Ln, Stafford Township, NJ 08050. Burial to follow at St Joseph's Cemetery, Cedar Grove Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753.
