John D. Pescatore, born on September 3, 1942, in Paterson, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of December 4, 2024. He was the beloved son of John A. Pescatore and Jean Pescatore (Loretta). John spent his formative years working at his father’s store, “Jerry's Food Market” on Market Street in Paterson. In 1960, he met the love of his life, Josephine Pescatore (Lorino), and they married three years later. The couple resided in Oakland, NJ, until their retirement to Manahawkin, NJ, in 1997. Josephine's passing in 2013 left a significant void in the lives of all who knew her, especially John.
John's legacy is anchored in three core beliefs: family, service, and faith.
Before retiring, John proudly served as a decorated member of the Bergen County Police Department, beginning his career as an undercover narcotics agent, and concluding as a Lieutenant.
John's life was deeply rooted in his Catholic faith. He was an active member of the Saint Mary of the Pines Catholic Church in Manahawkin. John was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he held his fellow Knights in the highest regard and enjoyed collaborating on numerous projects.
John’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, those local and as far away as Italy and Australia. He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, kindness, and sense of humor.
John is survived by his loving children Vicki Pescatore of Oakland, John Pescatore and his wife Renee, of Holmdel and Michael Pescatore of Oakland; his grandchildren, Katie, Sarah and Nicholas Viducic and Ava and Ryan Pescatore; his partner Carol Lee Bannier-Schipmann; his brothers-in-law, Tony, John and Gerry Lorino as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:30am-11:00am on Wednesday, December 11,2024 at St. Mary of the Pines, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ with a Mass of Christian Burial to start at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Beachview Ave., Manahawkin, NJ.
