7/30/1950 - 5/25/2024
Eileen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, John, her four children, Sandy and her husband Bob, Shannon, Tammy and her husband Chris, and John and his wife Cassie., 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and twin great grandbabies on the way. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jim and Lou Garabo, their wives, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Eileen lived in Beach Haven her entire life. This is where her roots run deep. Eileen’s parents, Louis and Wilhelmina Garabo, as well as her grandparents, James and Flossie Dowell, also lived in Beach Haven and raised their families here.
Eileen bravely fought cancer for almost two years before going to be with the Lord. She was surrounded by family who loved her with all of their hearts. Eileen had many friends and was loved by many. She worked for 40 years at the Beach Haven Public Library as a Principal Library Assistant. Throughout her many years in this position, she has worked with some amazing people who quickly became more than just friends. She lovingly always referred to them as her “library family” . She truly loved her job and all of the patrons of the library who quickly became her friends.
Eileen loved animals, a trait that was passed down to her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to listening to her son’s band as he sang her favorite song “Sweet Caroline”. She loved Christmas and enjoyed watching Hallmark Christmas movies all year long. Above all, she loved her family. She and John were devoted to each other and their marriage is an example of what love truly is. They married before John joined the Navy to serve during the Vietnam war and together they built a large family and showed them by example, what is important in life. She taught us all to love unconditionally, to appreciate all that we are blessed to have, to treat people with kindness, and to never forget that we are loved. She loved with all of her heart and would do anything to help a friend or loved one. This earth will never be the same without her. Our hearts are broken and we will miss her every day, but we know that one day we will be together again. We will always remember her words to us:
“I love you so much”
