Sandra Viars Jarrell, 78, of Covington, Louisiana, formerly of Charleston, passed away on June 28, in her home. Sandra was born May 8, 1939, in Prenter, West Virginia, a daughter of Lawrence Jackson Viars and Ruble Keeney Viars, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Percha Jarrell, Jr., MD. Sandra was a graduate of Sherman High School in Boone County. She was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. She volunteered over 2000 hours at the St. Tammany Parish hospital in Covington, Louisiana. Sandra was also a Catholic Eucharist minister bringing communion to the homebound. Surviving Sandra are her sons, John Percha Jarrell III of Prairieville, Louisiana, Glenn Michael Jarrell of Thomaston Georgia, and Lawrence Viars Jarrell of Covington, Louisiana; sister, Carole Thevenin of Ashford; eight grandchildren, Rachel Anne Jarrell of Prairieville, Louisiana, Rebecca Anne Jarrell of Prairieville, Louisiana, Samuel Sullivan Jarrell of Thomaston, Georgia, Madeline Sullivan Jarrell of Thomaston, Georgia, Lawrence Carter Jarrell of Covington, Louisiana, Tayler Schulte Landry of Covington, Louisiana, Chandler Richele Schulte of Covington, Louisiana, and Alexandra McCabe Schulte of Covington, Louisiana. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Stevens & Grass Funeral, Malden, with the Very Rev Donald X. Higgs officiating. The burial will follow the service at Amick Cemetery, Comfort, West Virginia. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. July 4, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden.
