Otis was born in Charleston on December 23, 1944, to the late James and Edith Hanshaw Lovejoy. He was a 1963 graduate of DuPont High School and was a retired Gunner Sergeant with the United States Marines and served during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his son, Michael Lovejoy of San Diego, California; sisters, Brenda Hanson of Dunbar and Sharon Martin of Florida; and brother, George Lovejoy of Belle.
At Otis’s request, cremation will be honored and his cremains will be interred at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024, with military honors at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.
