Margaret was born July 4, 1928 in Blakely, WV, to the late Delbert and Hettie White Burgess. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Hardway Sr.; daughter, Diana McColl; son, Nelson Hardway II; sister, Faye Crank; and 2 great-granddaughters.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda (Bob) Story of Dowling Park, FL and Linda (Oscar) Marcum of Stokesdale, NC; sons, Jim Hardway of Monroe, WV and Joe Hardway of Malden; sister, Gloria Swecker of Elkview; brothers, Gordon (Judy) Burgess of Reedville, VA and Gerald Burgess of Dale City, VA; 12 grandkids; 20 great-grandkids; 5 great-great-grandkids; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret graduated from DuPont High School in 1947, and worked many years at the law firm of Prieser and Wilson. Throughout her adult life, she was involved in many things; Den Leader for Cub Scouts; was over the Senior Citizens at Rand Community Center for many years; the DuPont Alumni Association; and was a member of the former Elmore Advent Christian Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the funeral home.
