Gary Wayne Spurlock

Gary Wayne Spurlock, 72, of Given, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 at The Hubbard Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born and raised in Hernshaw, by his parents Cyril and Ethel Spurlock. He was an avid outdoorsman, angler, and hunter. He retired after 40 plus years of service at the Dupont Belle Plant. Gary loved his camp in the mountains of Pocahontas County. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a treasured dad, pawpaw, husband, neighbor, and friend.

Gary is survived by his wife Linda Spurlock; his children, Terri (Jason) Shock, Amy Spurlock, and Jason (Ashley) Spurlock; and his grandchildren who were the light of his life, Maddy, Logan, Jackson, Audrey, Avery, and Bayleigh.

Additionally, he is survived by stepson Ryan (Brittany) Miller and step-grandsons Levi and Jace Miller.

He is also survived by his siblings, Danny (Gail) Spurlock, Phyllis (David) Anderson, Charles Spurlock, and Connie Spurlock (Lanny Casto).

Celebration of Gary’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Spurlock Cemetery, Hernshaw.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
