Anna Belle Smith, 91, of Huntington, WV, peacefully departed this earthly realm on December 28, 2023, in Charleston, WV. Born on August 12, 1932, to the late Letha Dawson, Anna Belle's life was a testament to the virtues of humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith.
Throughout her journey, Anna Belle found solace and strength in her unwavering devotion to her faith. She faithfully worshipped at the Levi First Missionary Baptist Church in Rand, WV, where she found spiritual nourishment and a sense of community as a Deaconess and in the Mission Ministry. Her deep-rooted connection to her place of worship provided her with guidance and support throughout her life's challenges. She also served as member of the Order of the Eastern Star Nazarene #20 Chapter, and leader of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 312.
Anna Belle's passing is mourned by her beloved spouse of 73 years, Sylvester L Smith, Sr. Her memory will forever be cherished by her children: Evelyn M Smith, Sylvester L Smith, Jr, Glen H. Smith (Debbie), India J Willis (Paul), and Samuel G. Smith (Charissa). She was also a loving sister to Thelma Blanks, Betty Dawson, and Magnolia Brown (Bill). Anna Belle's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, as she was preceded in death by her brothers: Ned Dawson, Spencer Dawson, Fred Dawson, and Joe Dawson. Brother-in-law: Leon Blanks as well as her sisters: Shirley Dawson and Gloria Dawson.
Anna Belle also leaves a family legacy of eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Anna Belle exemplified the virtues of generosity and pride, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her unwavering spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible impression on all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Her commitment to humility and her gratitude for life's blessings were a source of inspiration to those around her.
A celebration of Anna Belle's remarkable life will be held on January 5, 2024, at the Levi First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 5125 Church Drive, Charleston, WV 25306. The viewing will commence at 11:00am, followed by a celebration of life service at 12:00pm. Stevens & Grass Funeral Home in Malden, WV has been entrusted with the sacred duty of assisting the family during this time of bereavement.
