Lawrence Divin “Buddy” Wright, 85, of Monroe, passed away quietly at home on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Born January 9, 1938 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Wright and Eva Rigley Wright. He was also preceded in death by Carolyn Freeman Wright (wife of 40+ years) and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Leroy Floyd, Margaret and Jim Webster, and Barbara (Boo) Cash. Buddy retired after 36 years as a printing press operator. He enjoyed dancing, attending bluegrass shows, spending time and talking with family and friends, along with his dedicated daily walks. He is survived by his son, Thomas D. Wright; sister, Christine Floyd, and best friend, Alice Campbell. A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor James Witten officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
