Helen Morris Ogden, affectionately known as “Nan”, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the age of 94. She was born to the late William Homer Morris and Suzy Via Morris and raised by her father and a very special aunt, Lula Via, after the passing of her mother when she was eight years old. In addition to her parents and aunt, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Walter E. “Buddy” Ogden, Sr. her son, Walter E. “Tadpole” Ogden, Jr., her precious grandson, John Nelson Ogden and her sister Divine Rhodes.
She was a lifelong member of Christ Community Church and retired from the Chapstick Company after over 40 years of service.
She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Ogden Wyatt and her husband Ronnie; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Ogden; her grandchildren, Todd Richeson, W.E. Ogden, III, William F. Ogden (Patricia); her great grandchildren, Matthew Wells, Shelton Richeson, Jordan Richeson, Caleb Ogden and Bella Ogden; special sister-in-law, Dot Hunt; a special niece, Dawn Schmitz and a very special great-niece, Skylar Schmitz.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, October 27, 2023 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
