Born on July 20, 1930 in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Aistrop Hockett and Sarah Louise Creasy Hockett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Linnie R. Dudley, Sr.; and her sister, Dorothea Hall.
She graduated from E.C Glass High School and attended Phillips Business College. She worked for Central Virginia Training Center for many years as Assistant to the financial director prior to her retirement. She was a long-time member of Madison Heights Christian Church and loved singing in the choir. She loved to read (and always had a Bible and dictionary nearby), was a member of the Garden Club, loved to cook big Sunday and Holiday meals for her family and loved dedicating her time and talents to serving others. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by three devoted sons, Linnie R. Dudley, Jr. and his wife Judy Beth Loving Dudley, David Carroll Dudley, Sr. and Kelley Walter Dudley; two grandchildren, Janie Elizabeth Camilla Dudley (Gary) and David “Bo” Carroll Dudley, Jr. and his wife Sarra Dawn Dudley; and three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Walker Argenbright and Megan Aderholt.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be conducted on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Reverend George Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
