Born in Madison Heights, May 25, 1937, he was a son of the late Grandville E. Peters, Sr. and Mary Mantiply Peters. Pete was the owner and operator of Pete’s Auto Sales in Madison Heights and loved his work in car sales. Pete was an avid NASCAR fan and loved fishing with friends at the coast. He was very socially active in the community and enjoyed helping and being with others. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and was also a member of the Gideons.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith Peters and two brothers, James Rodger Peters, Sr. and Douglas Lee Peters.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Paul Richard Peters, Sr. of Madison Heights; two sisters, Lynda P. Bullington of Monroe and Jane Peters of Madison Heights; his mother-in-law, Willie W. Oglesby of Madison Heights and two sisters-in-law, Connie O. Martin of Appomattox and Glenda O. Gentile of Laurel Springs, NJ.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Dr. Jim Moon, Dr. Elmer Towns and the Rev. Glynn Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
