Gerald Winkfield Rosson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born on February 28, 1946 in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Chester and Naomi (Jerry) Morris Rosson.
Gerald graduated from Montevideo High School McGaheysville, Virginia in 1964. He received his Bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech in 1968. During graduate school he was drafted in the Army during the Vietnam War. During this time he met Linda Lewis. They married a few months later in March 1969 while he was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He and Linda moved to San Antonio, Texas. When he was discharged, they moved back to Virginia where he completed his Masters in Accounting from Virginia Tech. He began teaching accounting at James Madison University before moving to Amherst County and starting his tenure at Lynchburg College. He continued to work there until 2012.
He is preceded in death by his father, Chester, and great-granddaughter, Olivia.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Linda; his mother, Jerry (Roger); his brother, Steve (Karen); his sons, Shane (Crystal) and Colin; his beloved grandchildren, Damien (Samira), Sydney, Zoe, Casey and Skylar; great-grandchildren, Princeton, Nayomi and Sage; nephew, Chester and his family and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Whitten Monelison Chapel on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
