Betty Tomlin Meeks

Betty Tomlin Meeks, 70, of Madison Heights, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Nelson Meeks, Jr. Born in Amherst County, December 11, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Henry Dewey Tomlin and Nevie Staton Tomlin. She worked for GE and Fashion Bug years ago and was a member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Pamela Meeks Bryan and her husband Ronald and Rachael Meeks Arthur and her husband Jim; two sons, John Nelson Meeks, III and Richard Henry Meeks, Sr. and his wife Catherine; two brothers, Ralph Tomlin and Louis Tomlin; two sisters, Liz Tomlin Burks and Lois Tomlin Matney and four grandchildren, Nikki Bryan, Ronald Bryan, Jr., Mikaela Meeks and Richard Henry Meeks, Jr. One granddaughter, Frances Jane Meeks preceded her in death. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Dr. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. today, Monday, January 7, 2013 at the funeral home.
