He was the loving husband of the late Christine “Betty” Whisnant for 66 years; beloved father Frances Weiss and David (Ramona) Whisnant, Jr.; proud grandfather of Tom, April, Chris (Chester), and Jessica (Tony); adored great-grandfather of Amber, Damien, Dominic, Emmy, Marcus, Rowan, and Jaden.
David was born in Newark, Arkansas on March 7, 1931 to David and Mae Whisnant. He grew up understanding the value of hard work, and started working doing odd jobs to help his family at a young age. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged after an injury to his knee. Dave worked as a milkman for some time and eventually went to work with Ford Motor Company where he retired as a supervisor after many years. Dave took pride in his family, enjoyed traveling to places like Las Vegas and Atlantic City, and also appreciated simple pleasures like root beer floats from A&W and collecting and wearing caps. He will be greatly missed.
