Priscilla Anne Schaeneman, long-time resident of Madison, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Dec. 3, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born and raised in Springfield, MA, where she attended Classical High School and met her future husband, Lewis G. Schaeneman Jr. After graduating from Classical High School, Priscilla earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, a master’s degree at Wellesley College and later in life, a master’s degree at Southern Connecticut State University.
Priscilla and Lew married in 1955. They had five children and moved to Madison in 1969. While raising her children, she became a member of the League of Women Voters, was a founding member of the Madison Health Commission, helped found the Madison Youth Council and served on the Altar Guild at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. She later developed a career counseling program at Daniel Hand High School.

Schaeneman Jr. Foundation. She also served on the scholarship selection committee of the Lewis G. Schaeneman Jr. Memorial Scholarship Foundation, an entity set up by Stop and Shop where Lew served as Chairman of the Board and C.E.O.
Priscilla’s love of travel took her throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as Central and South America. Along with travel, she enjoyed her foundation work, gardening and reading; and she became a jigsaw puzzle addict. She was a member of the Madison Country Club for over 40 years.
