She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 4, 1938. Some of her favorite memories were there growing up with her parents, Lloyd Moffat and Cecelia (Wessel) Moffat, who predeceased her and her surviving sisters, Sally (Sarah) Bach and Judy Volpe. After graduating high school and college, Ann backpacked through Europe and worked as a candy striper in the tuberculosis wing in the 1950s. She later went to work as a paralegal until she retired at the law office of Ronald Scherban.
Ann and Sherman raised three children, Gordon William "Billy" Aungst (Mary Sue), Gayle Dufour, and Karyn Topping (Chris). Ann known as Mema is also survived by her grandchildren Chris Topping Jr, Erika Aungst, Kathryn Topping, Cassandra Aungst, and Derek Dufour, 1 great-granddaughter, Violet Topping, and her fur babies that she spoiled rotten. She will be deeply missed by her extended family.
Ann cherished the moments that she spent with her friends and family. She was dedicated to her faith and the Catholic religion. She was an active member of St. Margaret's Church in Madison and the Womens' Fellowship. She enjoyed running Senior Bingo, the Funeral Committee, Decor Encore, and more.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 11th at 11am in St. Margaret Church, Madison. Interment will follow in West Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Forgotten Felines, PO Box 734, Clinton, CT, 06413, St. Margaret's Parish Library, PO Box 814, Madison, CT, 06443, or Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main Street, Branford, CT 06405.
