Vivian Anne McPhail Payne Godfrey, 88, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 surrounded by family. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10:00am in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the graveside service at her residence.
Mrs. Godfrey was born in Ocilla, Georgia to the late R.C. and Ida Johnson McPhail. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Wyman Godfrey, Sr. and D.H. Payne; daughters, Judy Powell and Joan Payne; son, Joey Godfrey; brothers, Robert McPhail, Johnny McPhail, Homer “Mac” McPhail, Chappell McPhail, Dennis McPhail and David McPhail; and sisters, Virginia Browning, Ethel Sewell, Ruby Richter, Mary Elizabeth King, Evelyn McPhail, Mary Twiford and Grace Bowen.
Mrs. Godfrey was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her children, playing cards, and working in her yard. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include her children, Jackie Payne, Harlon (Hazel) Payne, Jimmy Payne and Charles (Carol) Wyman Godfrey, II; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
