Sidney Edward Donaldson, Jr. “Mr.D.”, passed away at his home in Macon, Monday, July 08, 2013 at the age of 77. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Eddie Knott officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home or may be contacted at the home of Tina White, 38 Pool St., Byron GA 31008.
Mr. Donaldson was born in Macon, GA on August 14, 1935 to the late Sidney E. and Dovie Donaldson, Sr. and he is preceded in death by his son, Dan Lonnie Donaldson. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1953 and went on to become a soldier in the United States Army where he was stationed in both Georgia and Alaska. After his service to his country, Mr. Donaldson returned home to Macon, as a Police Officer for the Macon Police Department. Mr. Donaldson served his community and the people of the City of Macon from November 1961 until his retirement from the Macon Police Department at the rank of Lieutenant in May of 1991.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Braves fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Evelyn Donaldson whom he married on March 8, 1957 in Jeffersonville, GA, sisters, Vivian (Jimmy) Carter, Gwendolyn (Freddie) Long, daughter, Tina (Keith) White, grandchildren, Eddie Knott (Tabitha, Caleb, and Jacob), Jason Donaldson (Brandi, Ashton and Abbi), Brandi Hadaway (Alexis, Austin, Alana and Amora), Donald White (Jasmin and Kaydence) all of Macon, Byron and Eatonton GA, four nieces and two nephews.
