Ruth Dykes

Ruth Meadows Bruner Dykes, 99, passed away at a local assisted living facility on Monday, December 8. A Celebration of her Life will be held on January 17, at 11 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Dothan. The family requests that donations be made to Highland Hills Baptist Church, 1370 Briarcliff Road, Macon, 31211, Southside Baptist Church, 423 E. Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301 or the donor’s favorite charity.

Mrs. Dykes was born in Gordon, Alabama to the late Nettie and Joseph Meadows. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Conway Bruner and Frank Dykes. Mrs. Dykes was a homemaker and a member of Highland Hills Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. Jim Bruner of Macon and William Joseph (Jan) Bruner of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Steve Bruner, Dr. Phil Bruner, Sheryl Shepard, Michael Bruner, Kirk Bruner, Brenda Pirie, Barbara Kirkness, 13 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ethel Bush, Lou McGuff, and Jasper Meadows, and numerous nieces and nephews.
