Robert (Rob) Watts Gibson, 55, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Forest Hills Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Dr. Baxter Hurley and Rev. Teresa Edwards officiating. The family will greet friends an hour before the service, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Forest Hills Methodist Church Chancel Choir, 1217 Forest Hill Rd. Macon, GA 31210, or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Rd. Macon, GA 31210. Reserved seating will be available for members of the Spinal Cord Support Group as well as the Good Samaritans Sunday School Class.
Rob was born on March 3, 1969 to Edgar “Hoot” and Carolyn Gibson. As a lifelong resident of Macon, Rob attended Joseph N. Neel Elementary School, Ballard B Jr. High, and Southwest High School where he graduated in 1988. He was a member of Forest Hills Methodist Church and was a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday school class, Chancel choir, and Men's Prayer Breakfast. Rob loved to sing and was also a member of the 1st Bibb County boy choir and sang in chorus at Ballard B. Jr. High and Southwest High school where he was also in Show Choir. Rob was also a member of the Spinal Cord Injury USA Support Group.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Edgar H. Gibson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Carolyn Goodrum Gibson; sister, Camille Gibson; niece, Danielle Gibson (Shannon Sellers); nephew, Adam Gibson; aunt, Gwen Gaylor; several cousins and a host of friends.
