Mrs. Ray W. Cooper

Mrs. Ray W. Cooper, 90, went to be with her Lord on March 25, 2022. Funeral service will be a private graveside on Monday, March 28, 2022 in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to Vineville Baptist Church.

Ray was born on September 26, 1931 in Macon, Ga. Her parents were Hallie O’Barr Willis and Milledge Clark Willis, Sr. She was a 1949 graduate of A.L. Miller High School. Ray worked as a secretary at First Christian Church for 13 years. She became administrative assistant to the Director of the Georgia Forestry Commission for a number of years where she met and married Bob Cooper, whom she loved dearly. Ray was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” W. Cooper; son, Thomas Ray Childs; mother and father, Hallie and Milledge Willis, Sr.; her brothers, Milledge Clark Willis, Jr. and Norman A. “Bob” Willis; and her brother-in-law, Walter Ard.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Kaplan; grandsons, Clay Kent Kaplan (Ashley) and Marcus Willis “Will” Kaplan (Hannah) both of Birmingham, AL; four great grandchildren; sister, Jean Willis Ard and several nieces and nephews.
