Myrtle Brewer Etheridge Mathews, 93 of Macon, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 . Services will be held on Saturday, April 10th at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate. A luncheon will follow her service at Snow’s Bass Road.
Myrtle, a native of Lumber City, GA was the daughter of Claud Brewer and Bessie Powell Brewer. She graduated from Lumber City High School and moved to Macon in 1944. She retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1972.
Myrtle had been a member of Ingleside Baptist Church since 1968 where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Riverview Community Club for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Daniel F. Etheridge and Robert V. Mathews Jr., son Michael D. Etheridge and stepson Bobby Mathews, and grandson Christopher Phillips. Her brothers Henry Lee Brewer and Kebbie E. Brewer, and sisters Bertha Mae Brewer Cameron, and Myrtice Brewer Coley also preceded her in death.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter Charlotte Etheridge Phillips (Greg), grandchildren, Nikki Etheridge Merritt (Will), Wynn Etheridge, Cory Phillips, Casey Phillips and, Cody Phillips (Leslie Ann), and great grandchildren, Olivia and McIver Merritt, and Madison, Emma, Caden, Luke, Taylor, Blake and Lacy Phillips.
