Vernon Michael Bennett, Sr., 65, died Friday, June 27, 2014 in a local hospital, with his family at his side. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday evening, June 29, from 7 until 9 o’clock at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Friends and family will be encouraged to share rememberances of Mike with those he loved.
Mr. Bennett, son of the late Julius Caesar and Naomi Scarborough Bennett, was born in Waycross, Georgia. He attended high school in Sumter, South Carolina. Mike and his wife, Teresa , owned and operated M&T Painting, after having met at the Painter’s Local 631 Union meeting. He was an avid NASCAR fan and adored his wife. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by two sisters, Geri Morales, and Gloria Kenny.
Surviving Mr. Bennett are his loving wife of nearly 35 years, Teresa E. Bennett; daughter, Lisa Danielle (Lance) Wallace; son, Vernon Michael (Lisa) Bennett, Jr; daughter, Tosha Michelle Stewart; brothers, George Raymond (Margaret) Bennett, Neil Bennett; 7 grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and his best friends, Joe (Tina) Davis.
