Melvin Leo Land, age 90, of Gray, GA went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2022. The family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 3969 Mercer University Drive at 1:00 pm for a Celebration of Life with Pastor Paul Dzaidul officiating. Interment will be private.
Mr. Land was born on March 13, 1932, to the late Mamie Louise Jones and Oscar J. Land in Macon, Georgia. Melvin served in the Unites States Army from 1949 until 1952 and was a combat veteran of the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952, began driving for Great Southern Trucking Company (later purchased by Ryder Truck Lines) in 1959. He retired from Ryder Truck Lines after 37 years of service in 1998.
He is survived by his son, Skip Land (Susan) of Gray, GA; grandsons, Scott Land (Katie) of Mulberry, FL, Brian Land of Bluffton, SC; great grandsons, Jacob Riley Land and Greyson Hardy Land; brother-in-law, Sonny Clayton (Cookie) of Gray, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
