Ann Self passed away at her home in Macon on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the age of 94. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, February 26 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park. Rev. Larry Partain and her son, Rev. David Self will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 PM on Saturday, February 25 at the funeral home.
Ann was born in Chambers County, Alabama to William Roscoe Redden and Fannie Mae Crenshaw Redden. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry; brothers, W. R., Hugh and Gordon and sisters, Betty and Elizabeth. Ann graduated from Smith Station High.
Ann married the late Jesse Lee Self in 1947. She had four children and three grandchildren. Ann was a past member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church for over 60 years and worked in the nursery. She later joined Houston Heights Baptist where her son was Pastor. Childcare was her love and she touched so many young lives under her care. Ann enjoyed her family and will always be remembered as the Neighborhood Mom. We will miss her.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Eileen Self, Joyce Knowles and husband, Freddie; and son, Rev. David Self and wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Jon and Kelly Self and Jason Knowles; and sister, Lorene.
