Mary Lou Mullis, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 30, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Noon at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Corbitt officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 365 Pea Ridge Road, Juliette GA 31046.
Mary was born in Hampton, South Carolina to the later Auswell Lee and Verna Miley Yarley. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Ovid Brantley; daughter, Sabrina Brantley Turner; grandchild, Charles Ovid “Trey” Brantley, III; siblings, Gloria Parker, Gertrude Howard, Dale Orr, Norma Winn, and Charles Yarley, Sr. Mary was a retired cosmologist. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, The Garry Kornegay Sunday School Class, Rejoicing Hearts, sang in the choir and a former member of Mabel White Baptist Church for over twenty-five years and a member of the Senior Choir at Mabel White. Mary loved her cats, birds and enjoyed watching wildlife. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Taft Howard Mullis of Macon, daughters, Sharon (Donald) Gardner of Palm Coast, FL; Carol Butts of Juliette, GA; son, Charles “Kip” (Cynthia) Brantley, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, James Gore, Travis (Mandi) Gore, Joshua Moate, Kent (Jamie) Moate, Christopher (Ashly) Mackley, Cassandra Fry; children, Tim Mullis, III, Mike Mullis and Scott Mullis and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
