Hank lived in Macon, GA for over 50 years, but was a native son of Fernandina Beach, Florida on his beloved Amelia Island, his true home. The youngest in his family, Hank is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Hank and Marion, his wife of almost sixty years, have four children — Amy (Jim) Stallings, Kelly (Mike) Robinson, Michael (Alison) Clark and Chris (Jenny) Clark, eleven grandchildren — Clark Stallings, Caty (Rob) Fealko, Adams Robinson, Nic Robinson, Russell Clark, Brett Clark, Brooke Clark, Jack Clark, Audie (Pinkney) Gilchrist, Marion Alice Clark and Charlie Clark, and three great grandchildren — Bert Fealko, Evelyn Fealko, and Millie Fealko.
Hank was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Florida State University. He loved the Seminoles and was a devoted fan his entire life.
Hank met and married Marion in Okinawa where she was teaching school with the Department of Defense and he was proudly serving his country in the United States Army. His travels with the armed forces shaped his life and made for an abundance of fascinating stories.
Once settled in Macon, Hank and Marion were members of St Joseph’s and St. Peter Claver Catholic Churches. Hank was one of the first Eucharistic ministers and was a Fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Hank was a founding member of the Vine-Ingle Exchange Club, now the Macon Exchange Club, and was their most enthusiastic fair ticket salesman.
In recent years, Tuesday evening poker was a sacred pastime. Hank and his favorite Macon friends held exclusive weekly games with an inconceivable buy in of twenty five cents. Legend has it Hank once won enough money to buy the table a large bag of boiled peanuts.
Hank never met a stranger whether human or animal and was always happy to occupy your time with stories of growing up on Amelia Island and his ancestral heritage. For anyone who got bored or lost track of his genealogy, he was happy to move on to the history of our county and the world since you had nowhere else to be anyway.
Hank’s big heart, warm hugs and fascinating stories will be sorely missed by his family and his enormous circle of friends.
