Mack Hortman, 91, entered his Heavenly Home on June 18, 2018. He was born in Crawford County in 1926, but lived most of his life in Macon, GA. Mack was the son of the late Lucile Becham and Robert Edward Hortman. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Julia (Judy) Fields Hortman, two sons, Madison Walker Hotman, Blake Fields Hortman, and seven siblings.
Many memories will be cherished by his loving daughter, Julie Hortman Davis (Rockwell) of Bonaire, GA, grandchildren, Clayton Christopher (Melissa) of Macon, Bridget McDowell (Darin) of Warner Robins, Travis Christopher of Athens, and Meghan Cornelius (Kirk), as well as several great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mack was a very caring and hard working man, always willing to help anyone. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Hobbies during his life included fishing on his dock, bowling, photography, RV camping, boating, checkers, and visiting with his beloved family. Mack valued his Christian faith. He was a member and deacon for many years at Bellevue Baptist Church, Macon, Georgia.
Employment was almost 40 years with Armstrong World Industries, beginning as a machinist and working his way up to supervisor. Mack had many skills and talents...rebuilding wrecked cars, building the family homes, and repairing anything!
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3969 Mercer University Drive with Rev. Marty Watson officiating. Mack will be laid to rest directly following the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
