Born in Macon to Margaret Laverne Avera Ennis and Cohen Ernest Ennis, she was a lifelong resident in Macon. In March 1969 she wed Wade Hampton King Jr. They welcomed a daughter Kimberly in April 1970. They were married 47 years until Wades passing in 2016.
She attended Toccoa Falls boarding school and went on to graduate from Lanier High in Macon. After graduating from secretarial college she was hired by the Georgia Farm Bureau where she was employed for many years. She was also office manager and bookkeeper for Tallant Construction Company and Starr Electric respectively. She took early retirement in the mid 90s when Wade suffered a stroke. For the next 22 years she never left his side. During her life she was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church then Tabernacle Baptist Church. In her later years she tithed and supported Wesleyan Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wade King Jr, her mother Margaret Ennis, her father Cohen Ennis, her sister Sharon Hollis, her uncle and aunt Virgil E. Avera and Lavonia Pearl Ford Avera.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberly King-Woodbury, her son-in-law Kenneth Price Woodbury, her uncle Weyman Avera, Shirley Powell, and several nieces/grand nieces, nephews/grand nephews and cousins.
