Leonard Green

Leonard E. Green, 91, passed away, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at a local nursing home. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, at Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held 12:00pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in the chapel of Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park. Interment at Macon Memorial Park will be private.

Mr. Green was born March 2, 1931, in Greenville, South Carolina to the late James Burnett Green and Pearlie Mae Shelton Green. He honorably served his country with the United States Air Force with wartime service in Korea. He later graduated from the University of Florida and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia. Mr. Green was a retired educator for Dudley Hughes High School, where he served as the boys’ basketball coach, as well as, Central High School, where he coached the girls’ basketball team. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of North Macon Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was preceded in death by a daughter: Lisa Green Harris and by two brothers: Charles Green and Vernon Green.

Mr. Green is survived by his wife of seventy-one years: Margaret Green; son: Jay Green, daughter: Susan Peek (Richard); grandchildren: Samantha Sandefur (Clay), Sonya Childs: (Kenny), Matthew Peek (Danielle) and Shannon Finney (Stephen); great-grandchildren: Sunny Sandefur, Summer Sanderfur, Skyler Sandefur, Ryder Sandefur, Abigail Childs, McKenzie Childs, Corey Childs, Brody Childs, Hannah Peek and Isabella Peek; siblings: JB Green, Jr., Bobby Green, Esther Lee and Joyce Pruitt.
