Kay Powell Gilbert, 52, passed away on Wednesday, February 5 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7 at 2 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street with the Reverend Tim Steffen and Reverend Wayne Anthony officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Madison Street entrance. The family will greet friends on Thursday, February 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel. The family requests that donations be made to Central GA CARES, a local animal welfare non-profit association, 520 Professional Drive, Suite 2, Macon, 31201.
Kay was the daughter of Julius and Peggy Powell. She was a homemaker. Kay was a member of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church where she was active in the life of the church. She was a volunteer in the Nursery Department at Martha Bowman. Kay was a former volunteer at Ingleside United Methodist Church Preschool, and also volunteered with Central GA CARES, Ronald McDonald House, and was a frequent hostess for First Presbyterian Day School football team. She graduated with her associate degree from Macon State College.
Kay is survived by her husband, Ronnie K. Gilbert of Macon; two sons, Zachary T. Gilbert of Macon and Wesley Powell Gilbert of Macon; her parents, Julius (Bo) and Peggy Powell of Macon; father and mother-in-law, Jack H. and Carolyn Gilbert of Macon; sister-in-law, Lisa Gilbert of Macon; brother and sister-in-law, Jay Powell and Beth Gledhill of Macon; niece, Caroline Gledhill Powell of Macon, several aunts and uncles and several cats and dogs.
