Joel Dexter Taylor, 95, of Georgia Highway 18 East, Gray, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at a local nursing home. The family will greet friends 1:00 p.m. to service time on Saturday, September 28, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Kim Washburn officiating.
Joel was born August 26, 1929, in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Harley O. and Minnie Sewell Taylor. He served in the United States Air Force and was retired as an Insurance Agent. Joel was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and was an avid Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Betty J. Taylor, son, Joel M. Taylor; daughter, Katherine T. Canavan and a grandson, Thomas D. Canavan, brother, William O. Taylor, and sisters, Betty T. Stone and Beverly T. Vincent.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughter; Marie Taylor Peters; grandchildren; Shawn (Sig) Kitchens, Taylor Neal, Jessica (Jerrett) Scarborough, Jacey NeSmith and Jonathan Canavan; and four great-grandchildren, sister, Jackie Taylor and several nieces and nephews.
