MACON – James Howard “Mitch” Mitchell, Jr., M.D., 60, passed away Monday, February 4, 2012 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be private at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor John Wood officiating. The family will meet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2012 and suggest that those who wish, make memorial contributions Covenant Care Services, 3950 Ridge Avenue, Macon GA 31210.
Dr. Mitchell, son of the late James Howard Mitchell, Sr. and Barbara Lillie Tannehill Mitchell, was born in New Jersey and had served with the U. S. Air Force. He was a graduate of the Medical College of Oklahoma City and for fifteen years, was in private OB/GYN practice with Concerned Care for Women, Macon. Dr. Mitchell was a professional tennis player and an avid skeet shooter. He was a member of Christ Chapel.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-one years, Terri Stokes Mitchell of Macon; his son, James Howard “Trey” Mitchell, III of Macon; his daughter, Madisen Elisabeth Mitchell of Macon; his brother, Jeff (Renie) Mitchell of Roanoke, TX; his mother-in-law, Melba Stokes of Macon; brothers-in-law, Craig Stokes of Macon and Todd (Kelli) Stokes of Byron; several nieces and nephews.
