Eve fought a long and courageous battle after being diagnosed with ALS. She was born on the Island of Ithaca in Greece to the late Achilles and Theodora Karantze Maroulis. Eve migrated to the United States with her mother and brother after her father became a US citizen by an Act of Congress and resided in Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach and the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary (now Old Dominion University). She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Norfolk where she was a choir member and Sunday School Teacher. After college, she moved to Atlanta to manage an insurance company. In Atlanta, she met and married John M. McElrath of Macon. In Macon, she was a member of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. Eve was the proud owner of 42 years of The Village Shop Fine Antiques & Gifts on Ingleside Avenue where she filled Macon homes with fine furniture, antiques, and beautiful Christmas ornaments.
Eve is survived by the loves of her life, her son Jay, and grand-daughters, Lauren and Emmie, her brother Thrasyvoulos “Ted” Maroulis and wife Maria of Norfolk, cousins in New Zealand, Australia, England and Greece. The family wants to thank care givers, Dorothy Freeman, Cheryl McBride, Cotina Fuller, Brenda DellaDonna, Gloria Cornelious, Caroline Scott, and Cathy Fleming for the kindness and medical attention they gave Eve during her illness.
